This study aimed to characterize the use of pesticides in milk farms of agreste region of Pernambuco State, Brazil, and quantify residues of pesticides organophosphates (OP) and carbamates (CB) in raw milk, st ill est imate consumer 's health risk through Probable Daily Intake (PDI). On 28 milk farms and 2 community milk coolers on Pernambuco were collected 30 samples of milk. The quantification of OP and CB in the samples was performed by gas chromatography (GC). Of 30 milk samples analyzed, 12 (40%) were found residues, six (20%) positive for OP, five (16,7%) for CB and one for both. The pesticides found in milk and their respective averages in ng/ml were: 0.04 for coumaphos, 0.01 for dimethoate, 0.06 for fenthion, 0.02 for malathion, 0.02 for aldicarb, 0.02 for carbaryl and 0.01 for carbofuran. When Probable Daily Intake of active principal found in milk samples was compared to its Acceptable Daily Intake, there was no r isk to any age, considering the brazilian consumption per capita, the consumption per capita from Pernambuco and the recommended daily intake by Brazilian ministry of health.Downloads
