The present study aims to environmental legislation applied to the dairy industry for the State of Minas Gerais. From the production growth is the increase of water consumption in plants installed and a consequent higher volume of efluent. The complexity of environmental laws raises doubts about the care and adequacy of the enterprises, which largely, only have a reaction only when they are monitored, seeking at all costs to meet the parameters required, without foundation to do so. The dairy industry must face this problem not as an obstacle, but as an opportunity to improve their practices, concerning the competitiveness required for dairy chain and sustainability in production.Downloads
